Sen. Hutchison Applauds Decision to Consolidate First Army Division West at Fort Hood
Point of Order Prevents Marriage Penalty from Being Imposed in Any Legislation

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas’ senior Senator, released the following statement regarding the U.S. Army’s announcement that the First Army Division West will consolidate over 500 troops at Fort Hood:

“This is great news for the Army and the Fort Hood community. In recent meetings with General Casey, I encouraged the Army to look at long term cost savings by taking full advantage of the existing facilities and the unparalleled deployment and training resources available at Fort Hood. This not only makes financial sense for the Army, but it also raises the quality of life for our troops and their families while improving deployment readiness,” said Sen. Hutchison.
